Morgan’s Math Contest

October/November

There are 10 Math Problems posted outside my office. For
each problem you provide a solution for, you will get $1…

…BUT…

You must solve the problem AND provide me with the solution before
anyone else.

You can work alone or with others, but there is still only $1 per
solution.

You must tell me HOW you got the answer AS WELL
AS the answer to the problem.

There are forms to write down you solutions, and you can leave your
solution in the envelope beside my office door (the office with the owl.)

This contest ends on November 15.
Solutions will be posted as they come in.

OCTOBER/NOVEMBER Math
Problems

1)
A student graduating from SAEC decided to become her own employer by using her
car as a taxi for the summer. It costs the student $693.00 to insure her car
for the 4 months of summer. She spends $452.00 per month on gas. If she lives
at home and has no other expenses for the 4 months of summer and charges an
average of $7.00 per fare, how many fares will she have to get to be able to
pay her tuition at UVic of $3280.00?
